# Keyboard Shortcuts

> Control Proximate with global keyboard shortcuts — toggle visibility, wipe icons, set timers, and activate tools without touching the mouse.

Proximate registers global keyboard shortcuts that work from any application. You can customize every shortcut in **Settings → General → Keyboard Shortcuts**.

## Default Shortcuts

| Action         | macOS Default | Windows Default | Description                                          |
| -------------- | ------------- | --------------- | ---------------------------------------------------- |
| Show/Hide All  | `Cmd+Shift+H` | `Ctrl+Shift+H`  | Toggle visibility of all cursor items.               |
| Wipe App Icons | `Cmd+Shift+W` | `Ctrl+Shift+W`  | Clear all notification icons from your cursor.       |
| Center Pointer | `Cmd+Shift+J` | `Ctrl+Shift+J`  | Move your mouse pointer to the center of the screen. |

## Unbound by Default

These shortcuts are available but not assigned to a key combination out of the box. Assign them in Settings:

| Action                 | Description                                                             |
| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Set Timer              | Open the custom timer input.                                            |
| Clear Completed Timers | Remove all finished timers at once.                                     |
| Ruler                  | Activate the [Pixel Ruler](/experimental/pixel-ruler) (experimental).   |
| Color Picker           | Activate the [Color Picker](/experimental/color-picker) (experimental). |
| Window Magnet          | Activate [Window Magnet](/experimental/window-magnet) (experimental).   |

## Customizing a Shortcut

To change a shortcut, click the shortcut field in **Settings → General → Keyboard Shortcuts** and press your desired key combination. The new shortcut takes effect immediately.

  If your chosen key combination conflicts with another application's shortcut, the other application may take priority. Try a different combination if a shortcut doesn't seem to register.
